Just listened to this podcast with Lesli Linka Glatter. A very enjoyable listen. About ten minutes in they start talking about some new stuff – including some crucial scenes from the finale (though no mention of the final scene). As you can tell from the title, LLG admits that there is still discusion ongoing about whether season eight is the final season of Homeland and at this point I can really only laugh at the mixed messages surrounding this.
More and more it feels like it will be the final season for Claire, Mandy, and Gansa (i.e., for Homeland as we know it) but that Showtime may keep it around in some reincarnated form. I have a lot of feelings and thoughts about that possibility. Suffice it to say my own investment in this show starts and ends with Carrie Mathison and there is no version of Homeland without her that interests me… at all. I’m also confident that Claire meant it when she said season eight would be her last. So this series will die (for me, personally) when Carrie hangs up the coat.
